She earned the MA and PhD in Communication Research at the University of Iowa, and has served as a faculty member at Boise State, University of Arizona and Southern Illinois-Carbondale. She spent seven years in the Tucson and Phoenix healthcare industry, with administrative responsibility and expertise in continuous quality improvement and statistical process control.
Traynowicz’s research and teaching center on inclusion & diversity in sport, sport innovation and culture, student-athlete identity and transition, and fan engagement. Her dedication to OER started after a one-day OER summer institute with Boise State’s IDEA Shop (led by Bob Casper, Leslie Madsen-Brooks, Kevin Wilson, Brian Martin), and she’s never looked back. She started using OER a required research class, and is committed to extending the use of OER to all of her classes in the future. Her goal is to inform teaching faculty about the benefits and reasons for OER, and to encourage them to move to OER for their classes.
