Bob Casper has been at Boise State University, in Idaho's capital, for over a decade. He currently serves a unit of the University's Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) called Instructional Design and Educational Assessment (IDEA Shop) as an Instructional Design Consultant working directly with faculty to improve pedagogy dealing with emerging technology. While mainly focusing on OER (Open Educational Resources), he also assists in Mobile Learning Technologies and Accessibility/Universal Design for Learning. He co-serves as one of two Instructional Designers assigned to the English Department, as well as, principle consultant to the Communications Department, Business and Economics, OPWL, and the University Foundational Studies Program - among other areas. In addition to teaching several courses for the Communications Department. Bob has led instruction as a Discussion Group Leader over several semesters for the Science Fiction-themed UF100 course offered by Foundational Studies. A graduate of the University's OPWL (Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning) Department, his master’s degree in Instructional and Performance Technology focused on online learning, instructional design, and aspects of universal design for learningSome of Bob’s achievements include a comprehensive accessibility audit for the online RN-BS Completion program in the Nursing Department, as well as, student and instructor training guides for Service Learning’s Peer Recruitment Program. Before coming to Boise State University, Bob’s previous experiences consist of research, creative, and business roles in the computer industry (DELL and HP) and the film/TV industry (Disney and Warner Bros.). He received his undergraduate degree from California State University–Northridge in Radio/TV-Film, with an emphasis in Multimedia Management.His personal interests include spending time with the ones he loves, as coach for his daughter’s soccer team to guided fishing tours with his father (Oregon and Idaho). When at home he can be found grilling or gardening with his wife, daughter and their extended family. Ask anyone who knows and they will tell you that a description of Bob would not be complete without mentioning his enthusiasm for film and all things Disney.
