Background
Prior to joining the faculty at Central Virginia Community College (CVCC), he was the National Security Advisor to the President pro Tempore of the U.S. Senate and the majority staff director of the U.S. Senate National Security Working Group.

He served the government in the U.S. Army as a medical corpsman (and in Vietnam as a DUSTOFF medic in the Air Ambulance Platoon of the 326th Medical Bn., 101st Airborne Division); as a senior special agent with the United States Secret Service; as a consultant to the U.S. Government Accountability Office’s Center for Technology and Engineering; as a research consultant to companies engaged in contracts with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the U.S. Air Force; and, as the Special Assistant for National Security and Dual-Use Export Technology to the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.

In 1998, he was portrayed in the Showtime movie, Thanks of a Grateful Nation, which detailed events surrounding an investigation he directed for the U.S. Senate Banking Committee from 1993 – 1994.

In the private sector, he has been engaged as media consultant; international security consultant; and, as a Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Office, and General Manager in the medical device industry. I have also published a number of scientific articles relating to the 1991 Persian Gulf War.
